The History and Evolution of E-commerce

e-commerce

Nowadays, discussion on the topic of e-commerce is going strong. Have you ever thought about the origin of e-commerce? The history of e-commerce dates back to the time where invention of the old concept of “sell and buy”, electricity, cables, computers, modems, and the Internet occurred.

Electronic commerce (EC) is defined as the process of buying, selling, transferring, or exchanging products, services or information via the internet.

Web 2.0

Web 2.0 refers to a second generation of web development and design, which facilitates communication, secure information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration on the World Wide Web. It allows users to retrieve information, run software-applications, own the data on a Web 2.0 site and exercise control over that data.

Future E-commerceshopping

Analysts predict a glorious future of e-commerce in the 21st century. In the foreseeable future, e-commerce will further confirm itself as a major tool of sale. Successful e-commerce will become an impression, because e-shopping is becoming more and more popular. Meanwhile, competition in the sphere of e-commerce services will strengthen their development.

Sales volumes of on-line stores are more than comparable with those of “brick-and-mortar”. It is because many people are “imprisoned” by work and household duties, while internet saves a lot of time and gives opportunity to choose goods at the best prices.

Evidently there is a long way more in order for e-commerce to replace the brick-and-mortar stores, but there is every chance that it might happen in the future.

E-commerce has definitely made the difference.

  1. Of course it will be very interesting to shop at home without involve in any traffic jam but i not sure whether online shopping will really give me the satisfaction that i gain while i shop at market physically….. hehe, i think i more prefer the traditional way….what do u think?
By the way, the security issues will be a concern to me…..

    • As for me, i prefer online shopping since its can save lots of the time and very convenience for me. No doubt, online shopping may not as satisfy as compare to shop in the market, but we can gain others benefit from it. From the aspect of security issues, it might not be the problem at all. Merchants become more alert with the quality and quantity of the products in order to compete. So you can assured to shop online.

  2. For me, shop at home can save time and let us update with the new thing/technology. We working 6days and just left one day only to do some home work at home. So, if can shop at home we can update ourselves without go to any where and also can save time or money (petrol).

    • Ya, that’s the advantages of e-commerce. It is not only save time but also can enhance our knowledge. E-commerce is made by us and meant for us.

  3. maybe can have a try…..sometime, i think..when i bore to shop in market…

    • Ya, you should have a try. You may find the advantages from it.

  4. i do believe that every thing have its pros and cons since nothing is perfect in this world. even though it might have some risks in purchasing things via online but it have it advantages such as time saving, convenient and cost saving. perhaps by increasing the service of the network system and delivery service, it might turn into a trendy way to shop in the future.

    • It’s true that nothing is perfect in this world. Therefore, the merchants are improving themselves as well. Online shopping may become popular sooner or later, but it’s take time!!!

  5. In my opinion, it depends. If u r bz n rushing time, then the best alternative would be online purchashing. However, if u r free, then it would be a good experience if u shop in the market. U can gain different experiences as compared to online purchasing.

  6. In my opinion, i think that buying via online is very convenient , some product is very special compared to domestic item as well as sometime we can buy online at a lower price. For ebay, it is a formal website and quite safety for net shopping. We can buy worldwide product by sitting at home and we can try to bid the price that we want. However, it has the pros and cons too. Risk is the most convetional reason for cons. After we have made the payment for the seller, we don’t know what will happen after that. Am i going to receive my product after the payment have made? Izzit the item is 100% purity goods? Or maybe the seller is cheater? Everything we also not that clear. It has a lot of disadvantages we have to consider. So far, i have bought twice in ebay before and i also received my item on date. What is the main idea depend on how you look at it. If you want to buy online, you have to bear the risk.

  7. sometimes peoples(perhaps female) like shopping not really becoz they wanna buy something but rather liking the feeling and enjoyment of shopping in mall.
However online shopping do helps peoples who need certain product that couldnt get ,while e-commerce plays a important role since its globalization.

  8. Good product. Finally!!! My dream of reading without the threat of papercuts will soon become a reality!!!

    • thanks….

  9. Shopping online is a new idea and now is hot at Taiwan and HK. But for Malaysian, we still prefer the tradisional way. I do think that nowaday, children all sit in front of the pc and really less interact with other kids in reality. Shopping should do in the traditional way to not only give a chance to people step out from their house but also provide chance to meet people and make life better.

  10. However I still prefer tradisional way of shopping rather than online shopping. I can see, feel and touch and even try (certain items) for the things to be purchased. By online shopping, i just able to see the picture on the screen. When the things reached to you, it may not what you want to buy in terms of quality, color, or etc.

  11. really dont know how the e-commerce will look like in the future…haha…
